Social Ministries at St. Luke’s

The mission of the St. Luke’s Social Ministries Committee is to support, empower, and encourage the people of St. Luke’s in our shared baptismal ministry of seeking and serving Christ in all persons, striving for justice and peace among all people, and respecting the dignity of every human being. This ministry is carried out in the world, especially to those living outside our usual perspective or sphere of influence.

We meet the second Sunday after the second service in the library.  If you are interested in being a member of this committee, please contact Deacon Marc Genty or Judy Crosby.

Faith Family Hospitality (replacing IHN)

Faith Family Hospitality (FFH) is a new version of IHN/Angel House established in November by St. Luke's and other members of Fort Collins Interfaith Council. It follows in the footsteps of Loveland's Angel House program by caring for our neighbors-in-need in a tangible and personal way.

FFH's 14 participating churches/synagogues serve either as hosts - by providing safe, clean and warm guestrooms, an evening meal and breakfast to as many as four families on a weekly, rotating schedule - or as co-hosts by lending volunteer support to the host church. St. Luke's is pleased to have Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church as our co-host.

Please join in as St. Luke's opens its doors and its hearts to welcome up to four local homeless families the week of June 14- July 1. To volunteer, please see the sign-up sheet in the narthex (June 10, 17 and 24)or follow the link: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/20F054DADA722A02-week/2779093    This link will be updated by June 1.

FFH and the Episcopal Diocese require that volunteers who will be in contact with the families (Meal Preparers, Evening Host, Overnight Host) participate in 2 separate, free training sessions.  Safeguarding God's Children  and FFH training.   If you have completed the Safeguarding God's Children class within the last four years, you are good to go! And if you participated in the IHN training last year, you will not need to attend the FFH training.

If you have questions, please contact Judy Crosby (via phone at 493-6836 or email) or Sarah Pitts (204-6981 or email). More information is also available on the display in the Narthex.

Thank you for your participation and your prayers!
