PARISH LIFE MINISTRIES at St. Luke’s
The Ministry Report from the 2012 Annual Meeting is available online.
Blood Pressure Clinic

This is a good opportunity for anyone that needs their blood pressure checked regularly to have it monitored. For others, stop in once-in-a-while and have yours checked as well.
Foyer Groups
Foyer Groups began at Coventry College, England in the 1940s. In the midst of terrible fear, anger and destruction, Coventry Cathedral recognized the need for forgiveness and reconciliation. One of the practical programs developed was Foyer Groups. They were small groups of people, eight to ten church members who met periodically for fellowship. They simply shared a meal together believing that relationships would be established and strengthened. Foyer Groups became part of a larger ministry of reconciliation called Community of Nails.
Watch for more information to come on the re-introduction of this ministry to St. Luke’s. For more information, please contact Cindy Hohl at 970-292-8622 or via email.
Breakfasts
Breakfasts are served each morning between the Rite I and Rite II services and prior to Sunday school. (Please note: Breakfasts take a break during the summer.) If you wish to assist with the preparation of breakfasts, please contact Ken Parker via email.
Welcome Committee
The Welcoming Committee serves to welcome all to St. Luke’s. We are charged with five responsibilities: greeting those entering the church for worship, telephoning guests who have visited and filled out the guest card, organizing the Newcomer Coffees, organizing the Service of Incorporation and changing the culture of St. Luke’s to be more welcoming. If you would like information about this committee and how to serve on it, please contact Debbie Joncas at 970-493-7512 x200 or via email. Also contact Debbie if you know of any new people or if you are new or a visitor to St. Luke's.
St. Luke’s Central
At St. Luke’s Central we provide information for visitors as well as being a welcoming ministry. The information includes brochures about St. Luke’s as well as the ministries and their activities. In addition, we provide information regarding the Episcopal Church in general. We also provide information concerning membership forms, stewardship, current music special events, and Daughters of the Kings as well as copies of the most current Messenger. Those who are interested in having name tags can complete the forms. In addition we attempt to speak with all by name and encourage participation in any upcoming events. Anyone may help with this rewarding Ministry. If you are interested just contact Jacque or Lee Hurd at 970-377-1882 or drop a note in their St. Luke’s box 121.
Pastoral Care Team
The intent of St. Luke’s Pastoral Care Ministry is to provide Christian friendship by being present to listen and to pray as God’s love is expressed with caring commitment. Pastoral Care is a lay "visiting" ministry and is not involved in individual counseling or therapy.
We are on call to make hospital visits in addition to the clergy visits. We are there to listen and comfort through prayerful presence. These visits should last no longer than approximately fifteen to twenty minutes.
Visits to those in nursing homes, assisted living and retirement facilities or to those that are homebound are made to help break the long days of perhaps anxiety and loneliness. We are there as a Christian friend to listen, pray, and comfort in the name of Jesus Christ. These visits should last no longer than approximately half an hour to forty-five minutes.
Please let us know if you, a loved one or someone you know would want us to visit. If you would like further information about Pastoral Care, call St. Luke’s at 970-493-7512.
Eucharistic Visitors
Eucharistic visitors are trained lay people who go out from our Eucharistic services to take communion to members who are homebound, either temporarily or permanently. If you would like a visit from our Eucharistic ministers, or if you would like more information concerning this ministry, please contact Pat Carter at 970-484-2344.
Funeral Guild
There are so many things to take care of when someone dies that we have formed a Funeral Guild here at St. Luke’s to take one item off of your list. We are a hospitality team prepared to plan and provide a reception at the church following the service so you can spend time sharing stories and fond memories with friends and family. We are looking for volunteers to donate food on short notice and/or help with setup, serving and cleanup. If you want to be part of this ministry, please contact the Funeral Guild coordinator, Pam Short, at 970-223-7235 or via email.
